‘Comeback’ Taemin ‘A thriller movie-like album, it includes my thoughts and my affection” [One question one answer]
Group SHINee’s Taemin will be making his comeback with his 3rd full-length album ‘Never Gonna Dance Again: ACT 1’ today (7th).
Taemin’s 3rd full-length album will be released on various music sites at 6 PM today, its title song ‘Criminal’ music video too will be out on SMTOWN Youtube and NAVER TV as well.
Garnering attention once again with his thriller movie-like concept, Taemin delivers feelings of his comeback and talks about his new song prior to the official start of his promotion.
Following is the one-question one-answer related to Taemin’s new album.
- What are your feelings to be making a comeback with a 3rd full length album?
Taemin: I am nervous but also really anticipating it because it’s an album that included lots of my affection - Having a prologue single as start of your 3rd full-length album ‘Never Gonna Dance Again’ followed by ‘ACT 1’ and ‘ACT 2,’ it cinematically narrates the thoughts and challenges that Taemin has as an artist. Do let us about the process of making the storytelling for this album.
Taemin: At first, I watched a variety of movies wanting to get inspiration from it because I wanted to make a special album. With that, I thought that it would be interesting to have the album unfold like a movie that one story so the planning was done with ‘movie’ being decided as the reference. I had a meeting with the company staffs with this thought of mine, it went through a developing process and an album storytelling about me has been completed. - If you were to express ‘ACT 1’ with just one keyword, it will be? And why?
Taemin: Could it be ‘Thriller Movie’? (Laughs) It’s frightening and at the same time, it’s the linking point to the next album ‘ACT 2’. - How was it when you first heard the title song ‘Criminal’?
Taemin: I thought that it was a song that fits well with the album concept this time. That’s why a news feel audio that wasn’t there at first was later added and the ad-lib at the last chorus too has been edited more dramatically etc opinions have been given to raise the level of completion of the song. - Looking forward to Taemin’s signature performance. Do introduce ‘Criminal’ performance.
Taemin: I wanted to express the introduction, development, turn and conclusion of ‘Criminal’ performance clearly. The construction of performance was also made with the song’s flow in mind, at first, a ‘rope/string’ was also being used... Personally, I think the choreography from the climax bridge to the end of the song will be impressionable. - Taemin’s identity has been established with your repetitive change in every of your music. You have showed the vocalist side of you through your pre-release song ‘2 KIDS,’ what kind of change will there be from ‘Criminal’?
Taemin: Through my conceptual vocals and performance that fits the song’s mood, I think you will be able to meet a new side of me that is like a character in a movie. (Laughs) - You have been actively participating in the music video for ‘Criminal’ ever since it’s planning stage, which part did you pay special attention to?
Taemin: I worked with someone fits well with me, through the meeting I did with the director beforehand, I paid lots of attention while tidying up things like the concept, the mood, the flow etc. I felt the storytelling concentration is higher even though my music video is only the length of a movie teaser, the music video was done in way for the storytelling to be shown clearly like a movie teaser. - If you were to choose your favorite track among the 9 songs included in ‘ACT 1’? And why?
Taemin: Title song ‘Criminal’ and ‘Nemo.’ Firstly, ‘Criminal’ is a song that can’t help but to have a sense of affection for it when I worked on it. As for ‘Nemo,’ it is to the extent that I find myself humming to it without realizing, it’s a song that one can listen to it comfortably.
- Your solo reality show ‘RARE TAEM’ is showing now, what side of you would you like to show through this reality show? What was most memorable to you when you were filming for it?
Taemin: I want to show the side of me that I didn’t show till now. I am afraid that I might spoil it so I can’t share in detail, I challenge things that I don’t usually do and I enjoyed being able to experience so many new things. (Laughs) - What is your album promotion plan this time? Lastly, a word to your fans.
Taemin: It’s an album that includes lots of my ideas, I would like to make good memories and finish it off well and healthily. Thank you to the fans that have waited, as much as you guys have waited, I will repay back you guys with an even better side of me!
